About
Dr. Torree McGowan, MD, FACEP is a board-certified emergency physician, Air Force veteran, and author. A Distinguished Graduate of the US Air Force Academy (2001) and a graduate of Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine (2005), she trained in emergency medicine through the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium.

As an Air Force emergency physician, she was stationed at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska and Travis AFB, California, and deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, and Enduring Freedom.

Her speaking topics draw on lived experience at the intersection of combat medicine, disaster response, leadership, and the human side of medicine. She has been an invited lecturer at ACEP's Scientific Assembly and the FeminEM Idea Exchange, among many other venues.

She is currently completing her first book — an oral history of the men who founded the specialty of military emergency medicine — preserving stories that have never been told in print.
Dr. McGowan lives in central Oregon with her husband and two sons on their 100-acre hay farm.
